'Ramayana' director Nitesh Tiwari picks Lord Ram's exile as 'most emotional' scene: 'I hope that it will move the audience'

Since the teaser drop, various video interviews with the director and his lead actor, Ranbir Kapoor have been shared online. In a clip doing the rounds on social media, director Tiwari opened up about one of his most favourite scenes in the film that he is looking forward to watching on the big screen. Nitesh Tiwari shares his favourite sceneSpeaking to Collider, he shared that the scene featuring Lord Ram’s exile was one of the ‘most emotional’ scenes in the film and one he was particularly eager to watch the audience’s reaction in theatres. “What I am really looking forward to watching in the theatre, along with the audience, just to see if I have managed to capture those emotions correctly or not, is when Lord Ram leaves for exile,” he said. The director added, “It’s a very emotional moment. The whole city is out there, not wanting him to leave, crying along with him. I think it’s a moment which is closest to me. It is something that gets me very emotional every time I see it and I really hope that it will move the audience the way it is intended.”

Fans react to Lord Ram’s exile scene

A tease of the scene in the film’s first glimpse has already won praise from the audience. Fans have taken to social media to share, “My favt shot from the #Ramayana glimpse. Ayodhya is soaked in this heavy, somber blue, but Rama, Sita, and Laxman stand out in a warm, golden glow. It literally looks like the light is leaving the city with them. The way the camera stays behind the crowd makes us feel like one of the citizens of Ayodhya, helpless as we watch them walk away for exile. Absolute 10/10 for the emotional visual storytelling here. The technicality is worth applauding!”Another shared the scene and explained, “This scene, where entire Ayodhya is in darkness and only light is with Ram Ji, it’s very significant detailing. When Lord Rama went into exile, it was as if darkness had fallen over his kingdom. He is believed to be the embodiment of light, truth, and righteousness. Connect this to Diwali. After years of exile, when Lord Rama finally returned to Ayodhya, the people welcomed him by lighting rows of diyas (oil lamps). These lights symbolized the end of darkness and the return of hope, joy, and divine presence. #Ramayana teaser has wonderful shots, that aren’t getting attention due to few flaws.”‘Ramyana’ release date‘Ramayana’, that also stars Sai Pallavi as Sita and Yash as Ravana is slated to hit the big screens on Diwali 2026.
