Redmi 17 5G arrives in India with a battery upgrade

Xiaomi has launched the Redmi 17 5G in India with a minor upgrade over the global variant. Aside from this one change, the Indian model retains the same design and specifications as its global counterpart.

The Indian variant of the Redmi 17 5G packs a 7,900mAh battery, compared to the 7,500mAh cell found in the variant that’s sold in other global markets. It supports 45W wired charging.

Apart from that, the phone being sold in India is identical to its global counterpart. It’s powered by a Snapdragon 4 Gen 5 chipset, paired with up to 8GB of RAM and 128GB of internal storage. It gets a microSD card slot for storage expansion as well.

The Redmi 17 5G has a 6.9-inch LCD display that offers a 120Hz refresh rate and an HD+ resolution. It’s protected by Corning’s Gorilla Glass 7i.

For photography, the phone offers a 50MP main rear camera paired with an auxiliary lens. At the front, you’ll find an 8MP selfie camera.

Other specs include a side-mounted fingerprint scanner, an IP64 rating, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth 5.1, a 3.5mm headphone jack, and GPS.

The Redmi 17 5G starts at INR 23,999 for the 6GB/128GB variant, whereas the 8GB/128GB option has a price tag of INR 26,999.

It’s available in Absolute Black, Eternal Orange, and Endless Blue color options with sales starting September 10.
