Redmi Note 17 Pro teardown video shows off the phone’s internals

Redmi unveiled the Note 17 Pro alongside the Note 17 yesterday for the Chinese market. Now, there’s already a full disassembly video of the Note 17 Pro out, courtesy of Chinese channel WekiHome. It’s obviously in Chinese, but YouTube’s built-in closed captions are very good at translating what the presenter is saying in our experience, so make sure you have them turned on.

As it happens with many smartphones, getting inside the Redmi Note 17 Pro is a matter of first removing the back cover, which here is made of plastic. The inside of the back cover has a lot of foam to protect from water and dust.

The NFC coil is to the right of the cameras, and heat dissipation is taken care of by a film that extends from the battery to the motherboard. The main camera uses Samsung’s ISOCELL JN5 1/2.76″ type sensor, while the selfie snapper uses the OmniVision OV08F 1/4″ type sensor.

The device uses LPDDR4X RAM and Samsung-made UFS 4.0 storage, but before you get too excited, note that because of limitations in the Snapdragon 6s Gen 4 chipset, the ROM is actually only running at UFS 3.1 speeds at most. There’s a light sensor, but the proximity sensor is ultrasonic. The USB port is USB 2.0 and there are only two microphones in order to cut down on costs.

The 9,000 mAh battery has a silicon content of 13% and it’s made by Sunwoda. The phone ships with a 67W charger and tests show a peak power draw of 54.7W. A 1% to 100% charge takes 84 minutes. The maximum brightness in manual mode was measured at 863 nits, while in sunlight mode it reached 968 nits. High brightness mode went to 1,100 nits, and at 10% cover the peak brightness exceeded 3,500 nits, while at 1% it went up to over 3,800 nits.

Under the screen sits a 4,700 square millimeter stainless steel vapor chamber. The device’s outer frame is plastic, while its inner frame is made from HZH5.9 alloy which possesses a 30% improved rigidity compared to the last generation.
