The Renault Duster has received a full 5-star safety rating in the Bharat NCAP (New Car Assessment Program) crash tests. The variants tested included Evolution, Techno and Iconic, all equipped with a 1.3L turbo petrol engine and manual transmission. However, the safety rating is applicable to all variants of the SUV. The Duster scored 30.49 points out of 32 in Adult Occupant Protection and 45 out of maximum 49 points in Child Occupant Protection.
Renault Duster Adult Occupant Crash Test Rating
In the frontal impact test conducted at 64kmph, the SUV offered ‘Good’ protection to the driver’s head, neck, thighs and pelvis. However, protection for the driver’s chest, tibias and feet was rated as ‘Adequate’. The overall passenger protection was rated ‘Good’.
In the side movable deformable barrier test, the Duster provided ‘Good’ protection to the front seat occupants. The side pole impact test was rated an ‘OK’.
Renault Duster Child Occupant Crash Test Rating
The Duster performed strongly in child occupant protection, scoring a full 12 out of 12 points for CRS (Child Restraint System) installation and 24 out of 24 points in the dynamic score. The vehicle assessment score stood at 9 out of 13 points.
BNCAP tested the SUV using dummies representing an 18-month-old and a 3-year-old child, both placed in rearward-facing seats. The dummies were placed secured using Isofix anchorages along with a support leg, which helped prevent head exposure in a frontal crash. The CRS also provided full protection in side impact scenarios.
Renault Duster Safety Features
All variants of the Duster SUV come equipped with six airbags, tyre pressure monitoring system and electronic stability program and traction control. Higher variants are exclusively offered with a 360-degree camera, Level 2 ADAS suite and blind spot warming. The SUV’s safety package also includes hill hold assist, front and rear parking sensors, all disc brakes, ABS with EBD and more.
