Renault will finally launch the Duster hybrid on October 17, 2026. The SUV is currently available with two turbo petrol engines, a 1.0L 3-cylinder and a 1.3L 4-cylinder turbo. The hybrid setup, called the E-Tech system, will be the third powertrain option on the Duster.

The Duster’s strong-hybrid powertrain comprising a 1.8-litre, 4-cylinder naturally aspirated petrol engine clubbed with two electric motors (20hp unit working as a starter generator and 49bhp traction motor that drives the wheels, and a 1.4kWh battery pack. The combined power and torque output stands at 160bhp and 172Nm, respectively, making it the most powerful hybrid option in the category.
The Duster’s hybrid system works differently than the Toyota’s 1.5L hybrid engine. In this setup, the hybrid system combines the engine power with electric drive and a battery, and the combined power is transmitted to the wheels through a multi-mode automatic gearbox. Its gearbox uses fixed gear ratios, and feels like a conventional automatic unit. In fact, driver will notice gear engagements while it switches between electric drive, engine drive and hybrid mode.
Renault Duster Hybrid Mileage Expectations
Renault Duster hybrid is expected to offer a mileage of around 22kmpl-25kmpl, and a range of over 1000km on a single full tank. This is mainly due to low-speed, bumper-to-bumper electric run and regenerative braking. In fact, the SUV’s 80% of city drive can be done purely on EV mode.
Estimated Price and Competition
We believe that the new hybrid setup will be offered on the higher-spec variants of the Duster. The current ICE-powered Duster is priced between Rs 10.49 lakh and Rs 18.69 lakh, ex-showroom. We expect the Renault Duster Hybrid to price somewhere around Rs 20 lakh – 25 lakh, ex-showroom. Renault will be aiming to localise the hybrid powertrain to achieve competitive pricing.
