The Renault Duster hybrid is slated to arrive by Diwali 2026. Speaking at the launch event, Francisco Hidalgo, Vice President, Renault India revealed that the Duster hybrid has received an overwhelming response even before its official launch.

Hybrid Booking Halted

All manufactured hybrid units for this year have already been sold out, and the company is working extensively to ramp up production capacity at its Chennai-based facility. Around 39 percent urban buyers preferred hybrid powertrain over the turbo petrol engines. Pre-bookings for the Renault Duster hybrid are currently halted, and will be resumed around its market launch.

Segment’s Most Powerful Hybrid

The new Duster hybrid will be the most powerful vehicle in its segment.  The SUV will feature a 109bhp, 1.8L, four-cylinder naturally aspirated petrol engine, paired with two electric motors (a 49bhp drive motor and a 20bho generator motor), and a 1.4kWh battery pack. This setup delivers a combined power output of 160bhp and a maximum torque of 172Nm. It gets a multi-mode automatic transmission and FWD (front-wheel drive) system.

Save for the ‘Hybrid’ badging, the overall styling and design of the Renault Duster hybrid will be exactly similar to its ICE counterpart. The cabin layout, space and features will also remain intact.

Expected Prices & Competition

The Duster strong hybrid will certainly be priced premium over the turbo-petrol powered variant. It’s estimated to cost around Rs 18 lakh for the base trim, and nearly Rs 20-21 lakh for the top variant. When launched, the Duster hybrid will take on the Maruti Grand Vitara and Victoris, Toyota Hyryder and the upcoming hybrid versions of the new-gen Hyundai Creta and Kia Seltos.
