Robert Cosby Jr, the son of ‘Real Housewives of Salt Lake City’ star Mary Cosby, passed away on Thursday at the age of 23. According to police reports, his death was reported to be a ‘suspected overdose’. Following his death, it was revealed that the 23-year-old was going through a tough few months. Besides getting into trouble with the law, TMZ reports that he was also facing multiple domestic violence charges at the time of his death.Robert Cosby Jr charged for domestic violenceCosby Jr. had been charged early this February with felony aggravated assault and felony assault, both classified as domestic violence offences. A warrant had also been issued for his arrest. Law enforcement agencies told TMZ, the alleged victim approached authorities on November 23, 2025 claiming he became violent after she flushed his drugs down the toilet in May 2024. The latest charges were filed on February 5. While the woman’s identity was kept sealed, she was identified only by her initials A.S. and allegedly referred to Cosby Jr. as her “husband.” Robert Cosby Jr’s wife files for divorceAt the time of his death, he was legally still married to Alexiana Smokoff. Cosby Jr reportedly wed Alexiana in a secret courtroom wedding back in 2022. However, she filed for divorce late last year and was granted a temporary restraining order against him last week.In the police complaint, Cosby Jr’s victim alleged that he “beat her about the face and head, and kicked her in the stomach” before choking her for approximately 10 seconds, leaving her unable to breathe. Mary Cosby was named in the charging documents as a witness from whom police obtained evidence.Robert Cosby Jr sentenced on 3 misdemeanour counts Earlier this month, Cosby Jr. had been sentenced on three misdemeanour counts of assault, criminal trespass of a dwelling and violation of a jail release court order. He received a 24-month probation with several conditions, including wearing an ankle monitor for 60 days. He was also ordered not to use, consume or possess alcohol or illegal drugs, and to avoid places where drugs are used or sold. Additional requirements included reporting to a probation officer and undergoing substance abuse, mental health and anger management evaluations.No further details about his death have been released.
