Samsung removed the S Pen’s Bluetooth functionality with last year’s Galaxy S25 Ultra, leading some to believe the Korean brand would ditch the S Pen with the recently announced Galaxy S26 Ultra. Fortunately, that didn’t happen. And the good news is, Samsung has confirmed that the S Pen isn’t going anywhere.

In an interview with Bloomberg, Won-Joon Choi, COO of Samsung’s Mobile Experience Business, confirmed that Samsung is currently working on a next-gen version of the S Pen stylus.

“We’re working on a more advanced technology within S Pen to come up with a new structure of display, so the penalty of having S Pen is diminished. S Pen will continue to be one of the core technologies,” said Choi without providing more details about this advanced S Pen.
Additionally, Choi said that Samsung is yet to make a decision regarding the Galaxy S25 Edge and Galaxy Z TriFold‘s successors. However, the Samsung COO didn’t rule out a wider version of the Galaxy Z Fold, which folds once.
A wide Galaxy Z Fold was spotted in One UI 9, confirming that Samsung is working on a wider model. The animation below from One UI 9 gives us our first sort of official look at the wide Galaxy Z Fold.
