Samsung Galaxy A27 5G arrives with thinner bezels and a punch hole camera

Say hi to the Galaxy A27 5G. It’s very much a modest update over the Galaxy A26 that mainly focuses on the design with a slight performance boost on the inside.

Upfront, the Galaxy A27 is technically identical to its predecessor with a 6.7-inch Super AMOLED with a 120Hz refresh rate. What’s different is the way the selfie camera is integrated – gone is the teardrop notch, replaced with a cleaner punch hole. Samsung calls it the Infinixy-O display and says that the bezels around the screen are also slimmer.

The other big difference is the chipset of choice. The 4nm Snapdragon 6 Gen 3 brings a slight (10-20%) speed boost over the 5nm Exynos 1380 of the Galaxy A26. Samsung promises a more responsive device throughout your day.

The rest of the specs are very similar (if not a tad lesser). You get the same 5,000mAh battery on paper, with 25W charging. Camera-wise, there’s a 50MP wide-angle with OIS, a 5MP ultrawide, and a 2MP macro. Upfront is a 12MP selfie camera. The phone is IP64 rated for splash protection – a notable step down from the full IP67 of the Galaxy A26.

Samsung promises six Android OS updates and up to six years of security updates.

The Galaxy A27 is coming on July 3 in Black, Blue, Light Green, and Light Pink colors. You’ve got a choice of 6/128GB, 8/128GB, and 8/256GB. We’ll update you on prices as soon as they become available.
