Samsung recently began selling the new Galaxy A27 in the US, Europe and India, and here’s the roundup of what changed compared to its predecessor.
The display now has a punch hole notch, instead of a teardrop; while the SoC is the 4nm Snapdragon 6 Gen 3 (replacing the 5nm Exynos 1380), and you’ve got 6 or 8 gigs of RAM (no more 4GB option). However, the ultrawide is worse on paper with its 5MP sensor (vs 8MP), and the phone has downgraded the Galaxy A26’s IP67 to splash only IP64. The battery capacity is unchanged at 5,000mAh.
The Galaxy A27 features the design refresh we saw on the Galaxy A57 and A37 with a color-accented camera island. It’s not obvious on the Black model we have, though. You can get the Galaxy A27 in Blue, Light Green, and Light Pink as well.
We like the way the Galaxy A27 feels in the hand. It’s solid and well-sized. Though its finish is a fingerprint and dust magnet, and the color does little to hide either.
The Galaxy A27 starts at €350 for the 6/128GB model, though you can already find it at third-party retailers for around €280. That’s not as dangerously close to the Poco X8 Pro, which is just over €350 with twice the storage. It’s not a good look for the Galaxy when you compare both spec-for-spec.
There’s a USB-C cable in the box and that’s that. Stay tuned for our findings on the phone itself!
