Samsung Galaxy A57 arrives with a new chipset and an IP68 rating, slimmer Galaxy A37 tags along

The Galaxy A56 was the best-selling phone in Europe last year, plus it and the A36 were two of the Top 10 most popular phones in our database. That’s an impressive track record, but now the next generation is here to take the baton.

The Samsung Galaxy A37 and A57 follow the same formula as their 2025 predecessors but have improved build quality and higher performance, plus new camera and AI features.

The Samsung Galaxy A57 is powered by the Exynos 1680 chipset. It’s a 4nm chip with a new GPU, the Xclipse 550, and a more powerful NPU that delivers 19.6 TOPS (up from 14.7 TOPS on the 1580). The chip is paired with a 13% larger vapor chamber for better sustained performance.

The A57 stands out from its sibling with a metal frame. It measures 7.4mm thick and weighs 196g, which is essentially the same as last year. New this year is the improved submersion rating, which earned the phone an IP68 rating. The A37 is also rated IP68 (up from IP67 on both 2025 models).

The Samsung Galaxy A37 stuck with a plastic build, which allowed the design team to make it thinner and lighter than the A57 and A36. The new model slims down to 6.9mm and 179g, compared to 7.4mm and 195g for the A36.

Not to worry, this didn’t come at the expense of the battery – but there’s no battery upgrade either. Both phones run on a 5,000mAh battery with 45W Super Fast Charging 2.0, which can do 0-60% in 30 minutes or so.

Samsung Galaxy A37

The Galaxy A37 is powered by the Exynos 1480, a chipset that we have previously seen on the A55 (from 2024). There are four memory configurations: 6/128GB, 8/128GB, 8/256GB and 12/256GB.

The Galaxy A57 is the more performant option with a newer chipset (by 2 generations), the bigger vapor chamber and better memory options: 8/128GB, 8/256GB, 12/256GB and 12/512GB. Note that some options might not be available in your region.

The A57 puts some of that extra performance to work for the camera. For example, the Best Face feature supports more photos and continuous shooting. It also features Auto Trim, which simplifies video editing. The Object Eraser has been tuned up to deliver more natural results while the Voice Recorder app boasts a new Voice Transcription feature.

The two phones have 6.7” Super AMOLED displays with 1080p+ resolution and 120Hz refresh rate. The press release doesn’t officially name the protective glass, but we’re pretty sure that it’s Gorilla Glass Victus+.

Both have 50MP main cameras with f/1.8 lenses and improved Nightography for photos and videos (Samsung’s low-light mode). They have the same selfie cameras too with 12MP sensors and f/2.2 lenses.

The A57 has a higher resolution ultra-wide camera, 12MP vs. 8MP on the A37. Both have the same 5MP macro camera as their third module on the back.

As expected, the phones launch with One UI 8.5 / Android 16 out of the box and will be kept current through major OS updates for 6 years. This includes security patches too.

The Samsung Galaxy A37 and Galaxy A57 will be available from April 10 (the Friday two weeks from now). Pricing details will be revealed soon.
