According to the latest leaks, the Galaxy Z Fold8 (formerly known as Galaxy Z Fold Wide) and the Galaxy Z Fold8 Ultra (a direct successor to the Galaxy Z Fold7) are expected to come with considerably larger batteries compared to their older siblings. In fact, some rumors suggest Samsung is finally adopting the Si/C battery technology. But how much better will the battery life get?
Well, to know for sure, we must test the devices once we get our hands on the first review units. However, the EU’s regulatory bodies might be able to give us a good idea of what to expect in terms of endurance.
The European Product Registry for Energy Labeling (EPREL) published the endurance rating of the Galaxy Z Fold8 and the Galaxy Z Fold Ultra – 49:10h and 51:00h, respectively. The two handsets achieve the scores using 4,800 mAh and 5,000 mAh batteries.
Now, if you compare the Galaxy Z Fold8 Ultra and the Galaxy Z Fold7 predecessor with a 40:28h rating and a 4,400 mAh battery, the endurance improvement is roughly 20%.
Of course, your experience may vary as everyone uses their phones differently, but one thing is for certain at this point – the new Galaxy Z Fold8 lineup will offer larger batteries. A much-needed upgrade.
