Samsung Galaxy Watch Ultra 2 to use a new chipset

Samsung’s Galaxy Watch Ultra 2 is rumored to be launching later this year, around its predecessor‘s two-year anniversary, and today a tipster over on X claims that it will be using the newly unveiled Snapdragon Wear Elite SoC.

The Galaxy Watch9, on the other hand, will allegedly stick with the Exynos W1000 used in the Galaxy Watch8 and Watch7, even though it’s launching alongside the Galaxy Watch Ultra 2.

With this move, Samsung will differentiate the next Ultra even more from its non-Ultra watches, for better or worse. It’s unclear if this means we can expect a price hike compared to the original Ultra, but given that every new top of the line Qualcomm chip for phones is more expensive than the last, we wouldn’t be surprised if the same logic applied in the wearable space too.
