Now that we’ve welcomed the Samsung Galaxy Z Flip8 to the office, we can say we’ve completed the set. And it’s a very pink and purple set indeed.
We’ve got the Galaxy Z Fold8 and Galaxy Z Fold8 Ultra reviews over here if you want to check those out, but now let’s have a look at the Z Flip8.
The short version is this: Galaxy Z Flip8 is a Galaxy Z Flip7 with a newer chipset and a pink color. We’re not sure whether Samsung thinks its flip foldable is perfect or the new market realities meant it may exceed the budget, but it has been unenthusiastic with its upgrades.
So, what is new? The name, obviously! Alright, seriously now, what’s different on the eight flip versus the seventh?
The new phone packs newer silicon – either the Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 in the US, Canada, and China, or the Exynos 2600 in most other places. Its two screens are also slightly brighter – 3,000 nits vs 2,600 nits.
It has the same cover display, only a bit brighter
The pink color is also new and suits the phone and its form factor just right! We’ve never had any complaints when it comes to the Galaxy Z Flip’s build quality and in-hand feel, and this one is not going to change that.
Now comes in Pink, which is nice
The rest of the phone is essentially the same – the displays, the battery, the charging speed, even the cameras. If you’re a Galaxy Z Flip7 owner, you need not worry about upgrading.
For everyone else the Galaxy Z Flip8 remains a great little phone. Just like the rest of the foldable Galaxy lineup, it’s polished and has a very upmarket feel to it. That goes for more than just the hardware. Samsung’s software experience is very smooth, fully functional, and sort of refreshing. It’s not just another iOS clone.
Displays are great, but the cover screen isn’t LTPO
The Galaxy Z Flip8 comes in either 12/256GB or 12/512GB. It can be clad in Cream, Graphite, and Pink, as well as an online-exclusive Mint color. It starts from €1,300 (though it’s currently 32% off).
