Samsung’s upcoming wide Galaxy Fold, which is rumored to be called simply Galaxy Z Fold8 became the subject of a series of new leaks. Across several posts on X, tipster Ice Universe detailed several key specs of the Fold8, including its weight, which is allegedly 201 grams. To put that number into perspective, Huawei’s Pura X Max, which holds similar proportions to the Fold8, tips the scales at 229 grams.
Samsung’s flagship Galaxy S26 Ultra weighs 214 grams, despite not boasting a folding screen. We saw a similar, though not so apparent, discrepancy between the Galaxy 25 Ultra (218g) and Z Fold7 (215g) last year.
We also get additional confirmation that the Fold8 (wide) will measure just 4.5mm when unfolded. This would beat out Huawei’s Pura X Max, which comes in at 5.2 mm, though it will still be a little chunkier than the Z Fold7, which is 4.2mm in its unfolded state.
In addition, Ice Universe is confident that the Z Fold8 will feature a 4,800 mAh battery with 45W wired charging. The foldable is also expected to carry a 50MP main cam with native support for Samsung’s 24MP resolution mode. Z Fold8 is expected to bring a 7.6-inch inner screen with a 4:3 aspect ratio and a minimal display crease.
