Samsung starts showing a list of satellite-ready apps

According to a tipster over on X, who shared the screenshot you can see below, Samsung phones now have a list of “satellite-ready” apps. This can allegedly be accessed by going to Settings > Connections > Satellite networks.

This will then show a list of apps that are “satellite-ready” among those you have installed. So it’s not an exhaustive list of every app out there that can use satellite connectivity, just a subset of those you have installed at any given moment.

Before you go ahead and celebrate the fact that you can use Google Maps when you only have satellite connectivity, do note that what features (or even apps) work via satellites depends on your service.

T-Mobile’s T-Satellite basically works like a normal carrier data connection, except you connect to satellites, but other carriers like Verizon offer a much more restricted, emergency SOS and texting service only. So Samsung’s list is a best case scenario, not a guarantee.
