Guwahati: Sashastra Seema Bal (SSB) director general Sanjay Singhal on Saturday reviewed the force’s preparedness to ensure free, fair and peaceful assembly elections in Assam.During his day-long visit, Singhal interacted with local police officials and representatives of the Bhutan administration. The SSB is tasked with guarding the India-Bhutan border in Assam, making its role crucial during the polls.
He chaired a meeting with nodal officers deployed for election duty, including ad hoc commandants, district coordination officers and company commanders, issuing directions to strengthen law and order arrangements at the sector headquarters at Rangia.Later, the DG visited Udalguri, where he interacted with personnel on election duty and reviewed security preparedness with district superintendents of police. He also inspected the Darranga–Samdrup Jongkhar trade transit route to Bhutan, meeting Bhutanese officials.
