The next-generation Renault Duster is just a few weeks away from its market launch. Pre-bookings are already underway at Rs 21,000, while prices will be announced in March 2026. The carmaker has confirmed that deliveries of the turbo-petrol variants will begin in April. Renault has also buckled up to foray the strong hybrid SUV segment with Duster hybrid, aiming to challenge the Maruti Grand Vitara, Maruti Victoris and Toyota Hyryder. The new Renault Duster hybrid will go on sale before Diwali 2026.

Petrol Turbo Engines

Initially, the new Renault Duster will be offered with two turbocharged petrol engine options – a 1.3L and a 1.0L. These engines produce power worth 163bhp with 280Nm and 100bhp with 160Nm, respectively. The smaller engine will be available exclusively with a 6-speed manual gearbox, and will be reserved for lower variants. The 1.3L turbo-petrol engine can be had with either a 6-speed manual or a 6-speed DCT gearbox.

New Renault Duster Hybrid Powertrain

The Duster hybrid will be the most powerful strong hybrid vehicle in its category. Renault has confirmed that the hybrid version will feature a 109bhp, 1.8L, four-cylinder petrol engine, paired with two electric motors, a 1.4kWh battery, a 49bhp motor and a 20bhp hybrid starter generator (HSG). This setup will generate a maximum power of 160bhp and 172Nm of torque.

The Maruti Grand Vitara, Victors and Toyota Hyryder, the Duster hybrid’s key rivals, come with Toyota’s TNGA/Atkinson cycle petrol hybrid powertrain. It consists of a 1.5L petrol engine paired with an electric motor, producing power worth 116PS and 141Nm of torque.

E-Tech Hybrid System Explained

Called E-Tech 160 Hybrid, Renault’s 1.8 hybrid E-Tech system has been developed from the brand’s Formula 1 energy-recovery tech. It offers multiple operating modes – Pure electric, Hybrid, Engine drive, Energy boost and Regenerative braking modes, which automatically change depending on speed, battery charger and load. Unlike conventional hybrids, the E-Tech uses F1-inspired dog clutches, offering EV, engine and combined gears. Globally, this strong hybrid system offered in models like Renault Rafale, Austral and Espace.
