Stock market today: Which are top 10 gainers and losers on NSE & BSE on January 14? Check list

Indian equity benchmarks opened Wednesday’s session on an uncertain note, swinging between gains and losses as investors remained cautious amid continued foreign fund selling and ongoing global tariff concerns.At 12:00 BSE Sensex gained 161 points or 0.19% to 83,789. At the same time, Nifty50 rose 55 points or 0.22%. Several heavyweight stocks weighed on the indices. Asian Paints, Tata Consultancy Services, Bajaj Finserv, InterGlobe Aviation, Sun Pharma and UltraTech Cement featured among the top losers within the 30-share Sensex pack. In contrast, Tata Steel, Bharat Electronics, NTPC and Axis Bank provided some support, trading in positive territory. Investor sentiment continued to be shaped by institutional activity. According to exchange data, foreign institutional investors sold equities worth Rs 1,499.81 crore on Tuesday, even as Domestic Institutional Investors stepped in with purchases amounting to Rs 1,181.78 crore.

Across Asia, markets showed some resilience, with South Korea’s Kospi, Japan’s Nikkei 225, Shanghai’s SSE Composite and Hong Kong’s Hang Seng all trading higher during the session. US markets, however, closed lower on Tuesday. Meanwhile, Brent crude, the global oil benchmark, edged down 0.49 per cent to $65.15 per barrel. The cautious start followed a weak close in the previous session.
