In the sub-4 metre SUV segment, the Tata Nexon and Maruti Suzuki Brezza are the closest rivals, constantly competing for the top position. The Maruti Brezza recently received a midlife update with introduction of a new turbocharged petrol engine, an underbody CNG tank and subtle exterior and interior changes.
The 2026 Maruti Brezza model lineup is now available within the price range of Rs 7.40 lakh – Rs 13.55 lakh (ex-showroom). On the other hand, the Tata Nexon is currently priced between Rs 7.40 lakh – Rs 14.30 lakh (ex-showroom). Maruti Suzuki has priced the new turbo-petrol variants quite competitively, while packing them with several essential comfort and safety features. Furthermore, the updated model scored a full five-star safety rating in Bharat NCAP crash tests.
New Tata Nexon Variants – What to Expect?
The rivalry between the Brezza and Nexon is expected to intensify further. With an aim to maintain its lead in the segment, Tata Motors will soon introduce new variants of the Nexon. While official details of the upcoming variants are yet to be revealed, these are expected to be offered with petrol and CNG powertrain options. According to a fresh media report, the new Tata Nexon variants will go on sale on August 1, 2026.
Engine Options
Currently, the Tata Nexon is available with two engine options – a 120hp, 170Nm, 1.2-litre turbo-petrol producing power worth 120bhp and 170Nm of torque, and a 1.5-litre diesel engine, generating 115bhp and 260Nm. Both engines are offered with a 6-speed manual and a 6-speed AMT. Select petrol variants are available with either a 5-speed manual or a 7-speed dual-clutch automatic gearbox with paddle shifters.
Next-Gen Tata Nexon in 2027
The Tata Nexon is set to receive a full generational upgrade in 2027. If reports are to be believed, the all-new model come with comprehensive design changes and feature upgrades along with a heavily modified platform. Codenamed Garud, the 2027 Tata Nexon is expected to retain the existing engine options.
