Tecno Pova Curve 2 hands-on

This is the Tecno Pova Curve 2 and its key asset is its massive 8,000mAh battery. But there’s more to it so let’s have a look.

The phone just launched in India and is available in Mystic Purple, Melting Silver (ours), and Storm Titanium, and in either 8/128GB or 8/256GB options. It starts from INR 27,999 (€258 and £221, converted) and ships with a case, 45W charger, and a USB-A to USB-C cable.

So about that battery. It’s truly impressively sized, right? What’s more, it’s not silicon-carbon chemistry. And then, the phone is under 8 millimeters thick (7.4mm)!

You’d never think that this phone houses the power plant that it does when you’ve got it in your hands. At just under 200 grams, the Pova Curve 2 is impressively light as well.

The phone has a now-retro-feeling curvy build. The front and rear panels are very sloped, and the frame melts into a thin side rail. It’s an elegant design, which we still hold dear to our hearts here at GSMArena! Not everything needs to be a rectangle that’s flat on all sides.

Feel aside, the Pova Curve 2 is a well-balanced phone, specs-wise. It runs on a 6nm Dimensity 7100 chipset with 8GB of RAM. The screen is a nicely-sized (6.78″) 144Hz 1080p AMOLED with Gorilla Glass 7i on top.

There are really only two cameras on board – the 13MP selfie shooter, and a 50MP main wide-angle that does double duty as a 3x zoom. The other lens on the back is a 2MP dedicated macro.

There’s also just one speaker on the Tecno Pova Curve 2, but it’s a Dolby Atmos-capable unit, and it sounds great – loud and crisp.

Overall, we’d say that the Tecno Pova Curve 2 punches way above its weight. It’s got a classy look and feel, a promising battery, a great screen, and is a solid performer on the software front!
