Tesla Model Y Gets Rs 9 Lakh Cheaper – New Premium RWD Variant Launched


The MY2026 Tesla Model Y has been introduced in the Indian market. The updated lineup receives a new Premium RWD variant priced at Rs 50.89 lakh (ex-showroom), making it nearly Rs 9 lakh more affordable than the Model Y Standard Range. The top-end Long Range RWD variant has been discontinued.

Buyers can purchase the new Tesla Model Y Premium RWD variant with EMIs starting at Rs 39,990, with a down payment of Rs 6,00,000. Deliveries of the new variant will begin from July, 2026. The Premium RWD variant is available in a 5-seats configuration, while the L Premium AWD variant comes with a 6-seats layout.

2026 Tesla Model Y Premium RWD – Key Features

The new entry-level Premium RWD variant offers a sporty all-black cabin theme with blacked-out interior trim and headliner. Buyers also have the option to opt the Zen Grey interior theme. The 16-inch touchscreen infotainment system is now claimed to be more responsive, and offers an improved user interface (UI) ensuring faster access to navigation, vehicle controls and other features.

The feature list of the new Premium RWD variant remains unchanged. It continues to offer a 9-speakr audio system, power-adjustable rear seats, powered, heated and ventilated front seats, an 8-inch touchscreen for the rear seat passenger, dual wireless phone chargers, connected car tech, electronic parking brake with auto-hold, front and rear parking sensors, electronic stability control, ADAS and more.

Battery, Range & Charging

The new Telsa Model Y Premium RWD variant features a single electric motor pained with a RWD (rear-wheel drive) system. It offers a claimed WLTP range of 500km and can accelerate 0 to 100mph in 5.9 seconds. The EV supports fast charging of up to 175kW, and can add up of 238km range in just 15 minutes.
