If you see someone pouring sand and grit over a brand new Samsung Galaxy Z Fold8, there is a better than 50% chance that their name is Zack. This is part of the standard durability test of the JerryRigEverything channel, as is the bend test.
For the Z8 generation, Samsung introduced the Flex Titanium screen design, which combines an aluminum plate with a titanium alloy film to strengthen the folding OLED display inside the Galaxy Z Fold8 and the Z Fold8 Ultra (the Z Flip8 missed out on this upgrade). Does this make the display more durable?

Well, yes, but it’s meant to help the display survive the stresses of folding and unfolding and to reduce the crease that these stresses create. The inner display is as easy to scratch as ever – that’s the nature of the plastic top layer. The Corning Gorilla Glass Ceramic 3 on the 16:10 cover display is much more resistant to scratches as it needs to be – it’s always exposed to the outside.
As for the sand, the refined hinge design on the Z Fold8 did a very good job at keeping the gritty bits outside of the phone. Interestingly, the camera island is plastic, but most of the phone’s chassis is Armor Aluminum.
