The Honor Play20A is a unique model in the company’s lineup, but it may also be a missed opportunity. As you’ve already seen in the thumbnail for this post, the phone has a secondary display on the camera island on its back – something that no other non-folding Honor phone has.
This allows you to snap photos with the main camera, which has a… 13MP sensor. And despite appearances, it is the only actual camera on the back. Anyway, this 13MP camera will without a doubt produce better quality images than the 5MP front-facing camera, though that’s hardly a high bar to clear.
This rear screen also shows the time (the Play20A doesn’t have an Always On mode for the front screen), it shows “now playing” info from the music player and tells you who is calling when the phone rings. Still, this feels like a missed opportunity to build a more exciting model.

Flipping the phone around, the most remarkable detail about Honor Play20A’s front is that the main LCD is a massive 6.9” panel (90Hz). That’s larger than most phones out there. Other than that, the asymmetric bezels and the notched camera are not unusual for entry-level phones. The fingerprint reader is built into the side of the phone.
The Play20A is a 4G phone with a Helio G81 chipset, 4GB of RAM and 64/128GB storage. The good news is that the card slot has room for three cards – two SIMs and a microSD (up to 1TB).

This phone has one more ace up its sleeve – it is equipped with a large 6,000mAh battery. That’s pretty good for an entry-level phone, though the 15W charging is decidedly slow.

We don’t know how much the Honor Play20A will cost – we’ve only seen it on Honor.com’s global page and on Honor Qatar (but there’s no price listed there).
