REDMAGIC introduced the industry’s first mass-produced smartphone with a liquid cooling system, the REDMAGIC 11 Pro, a few months ago. Now the company is bringing this technology to gaming tablets with its most powerful slate yet.
The REDMAGIC Astra 2 will go on open sale globally on August 26. However, you can jump to the front of the queue with the $1/€1/£1 early bird voucher (available from August 10-25). With this voucher, you can buy the tablet on the 25th, a day before everyone else. Additionally, the voucher converts to a $30/€30/£30 discount when purchasing the tablet, plus a couple of freebies – an 80W fast charger and an exclusive REDMAGIC Keychain.
The REDMAGIC Astra 2 is the first tablet with liquid cooling
The tablet is powered by the Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 backed by the RedCore R4 chip for customizable in-game effects and Qualcomm-powered 2K super-resolution. This makes it the most powerful REDMAGIC tablet to date. The slate features the Energy Cube 3.0 system that intelligently allocates system resources for optimized CPU, GPU and memory performance. It also handles cooling and fast touch input.

The tablet is equipped with a 9.06” OLED display (2,400 x 1,504px) that is built for ultra-smooth competitive gaming – it runs at an industry-leading refresh rate of 185Hz. The display covers 90.1% of the front and can reach 1,600 nits of peak brightness. The Synaptics S3930 chip handles lightning-fast touch inputs with up to 2,000Hz instant touch sampling. For late-night gaming sessions, the display has an SGS low blue light certification.

The AquaCore Cooling System 2.0 is the defining feature of the REDMAGIC Astra 2 – it’s the first liquid cooling on a tablet. Just like on REDMAGIC phones, this system uses piezoelectric ceramic micropumps to move AI server-grade fluorinated cooling liquid across micron-level channels. This liquid soaks up heat collected by the Liquid Metal 3.0 that is over the chipset and delivers it to the 4D vapor chamber.
For extended gaming sessions on the go, the tablet runs on an 8,300mAh dual-cell battery. There are two USB-C ports on board – one supports 75W fast charging and the other 40W. This is the first REDMAGIC tablet that supports dual reverse charging – this way, you can top up your headphones and controller simultaneously. The side USB-C port can also be used for wired audio.
Or if you prefer to play without headphones on, there are dual stereo speakers with a DTS Ultra certification on board. Either way, dual X-axis linear motors provide 4D haptic feedback.

Should you wish to play on a larger screen than the tablet’s 9.06” OLED, you can use the DisplayPort capability on one of the USB-C ports to output 4K at 144Hz or 8K at 60Hz video. This is a fast port with USB 3.2 Gen 2 data (10Gbps). Additional connectivity includes Bluetooth 6.0 for wireless headphones and controllers and Wi-Fi 7 (be).
Power key/fingerprint reader • The Magic Key
The REDMAGIC Astra 2 adheres to the company’s trademark gaming aesthetics. This includes customizable RGB lighting and now a visible liquid cooling system too. The tablet has a metal frame and Corning Gorilla Glass 3 panels. It is rated IP54 for dust and water resistance.

The Magic Key on the side defaults to launching GameSpace, but its function can be changed as desired – it can take photos, enable the flashlight, launch a voice recorder, activate face-to-face translation mode or switch to vibration mode.
The tablet comes with REDMAGIC OS 11.5 out of the box (it’s based on Android 16). It has fingerprint and face recognition for secure unlocking – the latter is handled by the 9MP front-facing camera. Additionally, there is a 13MP AI-enhanced camera on the back.
