Tecno unveiled the Pova 8 Pro last week, but the company kept launch details under wraps, saying only that it will debut in India on August 18 – that’s today! But no, the phone isn’t available yet.
Sales in India will start on August 21 (Friday). Tecno has partnered with Flipkart to launch the phone and you can already visit the store pages and set up a notification to remind you on Friday. The 8/256GB model is priced ₹50,000 and the 12/512GB variant is ₹55,000. Note that there is a ₹3,000 instant cashback and no-cost EMI up to 18 months.
The Tecno Pova 8 Pro comes in three colors: Tundra Green • Graphite Black • Arc White
The Tecno Pova 8 Pro has a 6.78” OLED display with 1208p+ resolution and a 144Hz refresh rate. There’s an X-axis linear motor for haptic feedback in gaming.
The phone runs on a Dimensity 7400 Ultimate chip, which is paired up with a P1 Graphic Chip. There’s a 5,000mm² vapor chamber to help keep things cool.
Around the back there is a 50MP main camera (a 1/1.56” Sony Lytia 700C sensor, f/1.8 lens with OIS) and an 8MP ultra-wide. The more interesting element here is the circular dot matrix display – it is made up of 177 LEDs and handles notification and progress reporting duties (e.g. it can act as a file transfer progress bar). There are 49 scenarios and you can customize them as you see fit.
The phone has a shortcut button on the side, which is also fully customizable. It can activate silent mode, launch the camera, turn on the LED light, start a recording and so on. And, of course, it can call up Tecno’s AI assistant.
The Tecno Pova 8 Pro launches with HiOS 16 (Android 16) out of the box and will receive two Android updates.
The phone measures 7.4mm thick and weighs 189g. This is with a 6,500mAh battery with 45W wired charging (50% in 28 minutes). The battery is rated for 2,000 charge cycles (5 years of usage). The phone is rated IP69K for resistance against high temperature water jets. The display is protected by Gorilla Glass 7i.
Tecno also unveiled the Pova 8 Pro 5G Tonino Lamborghini Limited Edition, but that isn’t available yet.
