JSW Motors aims to establish itself as an independent car brand in India through a collaboration with China’s leading car exporters – Chery Automobile. The Jetour T2 will be the first product to launch under this joint venture, slated to arrive by Diwali 2026. JSW Motors will assemble the new SUV at its upcoming Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar facility in Maharashtra.

Expected Price & Positioning
In India, the carmaker is likely to introduce the global-spec plug-in hybrid version of the SUV. If priced between Rs 30 lakh – Rs 40 lakh, the Jetour T2 will compete with models such as Toyota Fortuner, MG Majestor and Skoda Kodiaq. While its rivals come with conventional petrol and diesel engine options, the T2 plug-in hybrid (i-DM) will be high on fuel efficiency.
PHEV Specifications
The Jetour T2 features a 1.5-litre turbocharged petrol engine paired with a 26.7kWh battery pack. It can be had either with a single-motor FWD setup or a dual-motor AWD configuration. The battery pack offers a claimed NEDC-rated pure electric range of 139km.
According to official figures, the PHEV SUV delivers a combined fuel efficiency of 0.8-5.4-litre per 100km, which translates to around 18.5mpl to 125kmpl. The highest mileage figure can be achieved only when with a fully charged battery and when the SUV operates in EV mode.
Mileage Compared
For reference, the Toyota Fortuner with 2.7L petrol and 2.8L diesel engines return a claimed mileage of 10.3kmpl and up to 14.6kmpl, respectively. The Skoda Kodiaq offers a fuel efficiency of 14.86kmpl, while the official mileage figures of the MG Majestor are yet to be revealed. Based on these numbers, the Jetour T2 will emerge as the highly fuel-efficient vehicle in its segment.
