The sales report for April is out now. Most carmakers registered YoY growth – some significant, while others saw marginal gains. Maruti Suzuki retained the top spot in the sales chart with 1,87,794 units, posting its highest-ever domestic monthly sales. The carmaker recorded 35% YoY sales growth, with major sales contributions from the compact and midsize segment (80,659 units), followed by small cars (16,066 units).

Tata Motors secured the second position with total domestic sales of around 59,000 units against 45,199 units in the same month last year, accounting a 30.5% YoY growth. The Tata Nexon and Punch remained its top-selling models.
With 56,331 units sold in April 2026, Mahindra & Mahindra became the third largest carmaker in India. While the company recorded an 8% YoY growth, its MoM sales declined by 6.5%. In the coming months, Mahindra will introduce the Scorpio N, Scorpio Classic and Thar 3-door facelifts, which could further boost its sales figures.
Hyundai Motor India continued to remain on the fourth position with total domestic sales of 51,902 units in April 2026, marking a 17% YoY growth. The Hyundai Venue was among the major contributors, posting its highest-ever monthly sales of 12,420 units.
Toyota Kirloskar Motors managed to sell 30,159 units compared to 24,833 units in April 2025, registering a 21% YoY growth. Kia India secured the sixth position with total sales of 27,286 units, which is its highest-ever April sales. The carmaker has revealed that the Seltos and Sonet achieved the 10,000 sales mark during the month.
JSW MG Motor and Honda Cars India secured the seventh and eighth positions with sales of 6,018 units and 4,069 units, respectively. While MG recorded a marginal 3% YoY growth, Honda posted a healthy 21% YoY growth.
April 2026 proved to be a profitable month for Renault, which registered total sales of 5,413 units and a significant 108% YoY growth. The newly-launched Renault Duster has been a key driver of this gain. Nissan India managed to sell 3,203 units in April 2026, reflecting a 45.5% YoY growth.
