The Indian midsize SUV segment has always been highly competitive with multiple choices including the Hyundai Creta, Kia Seltos, Maruti Grand Vitara and more. The competition is set to get fiercer further with the arrival of more than 10 new models over the next two years, offering a mix of petrol, electric and hybrid powertrains.
Here’s a quick look at the top 10 upcoming midsize SUVs, expected to launch in India during 2026 and 2027.

Toyota eBella EV
The Toyota Urban Cruiser Ebella will be offered in three trims – E1, E2 and E3 – and two battery pack options – 49kwh and 61kWh. The electric midsize SUV will deliver a claimed ARAI range of up to 543km.
Maruti Grand Vitara/Toyota Hyryder Facelifts
The Maruti Grand Vitara and its Toyota’s counterpart, the Urban Cruiser Hyryder, are set for midlife updates in coming months. Both SUVs are expected to receive minimal design changes and feature upgrades, while retaining the existing engine options.
Jetour T2
Jetour T2 will be the first model to launch under the JSW Motors and Chery Automobile partnership in the Indian market. It will be a plug-in hybrid SUV, featuring a 1.5L turbo petrol engine, dual electric motors, a 26.7kWh LFP battery and a hybrid transmission.
Nissan Tekton
The Nissan Tekton will essentially be a rebadged version of the new Renault Duster. Expect for the design language, its platform, components, features and powertrains will be exactly similar to the Duster.
Honda Elevate Facelift
The Honda Elevate is expected to receive its first midlife update in the second half of 2026. The SUV is likely to see subtle design changes and feature enhancements, while continuing with the existing petrol engine.
Renault Duster Hybrid
The Renault Duster hybrid has been confirmed for India. The model will be offered with a 109bhp, 1.8L naturally aspirated petrol engine, paired with two electric motors and a 1.4kWh battery pack. It offers a combined output stands at 160bhp and 172Nm of torque.
New-Gen Hyundai Creta
Based on the K3 platform, the third-generation Hyundai Creta will derive its design inspiration from the Hyundai Crater concept. The SUV will receive the brand’s new Pleos Connect infotainment system along with significant feature and tech upgrades. While offering the existing engine options, the new Hyundai Creta will also get a strong hybrid powertrain. It’s one of the highly-anticipated upcoming midsize SUVs in 2027.
Jaecoo J5
Similar to the Jetour T2, the Jaeccoo J5 will come under the JSW and Chery partnership in India. Globally, the SUV is available with a 60.9kWh battery pack paired with an electric motor, offering a claimed NEDC range of 461km per charge.
Kia Seltos Hybrid
The Kia Seltos hybrid is globally offered with a 1.6L GDI HEV powertrain and FWD system, delivering output of 154bhp. For India, Kia is expected to use an electrified version of the 1.5L petrol engine.
Hyundai Bayon
Hyundai Motor India recently confirmed a new midsize SUV for the current financial year. It’s expected to be based on the Hyundai Bayon, which measures 4.18 metres in length. Details of the India-bound model are yet to be revealed.
