This Christmas, the much-anticipated Malayalam film ‘Haal’, featuring Shane Nigam, is hitting theaters after overcoming a challenging battle with the censor board. The trailer gives us a taste of a captivating story intertwined with romance, political intrigue, and action-packed sequences.

The trailer of the upcoming Malayalam film ‘Haal’, starring Shane Nigam, has been released after clearing the censor board’s scrutiny. The trailer suggests that the film will be a combination of romance, politics, and action, offering a glimpse of its intense narrative. ‘Haal’ has received a UA 16+ censor certificate and is scheduled for release on Christmas, December 25. Directed by Veera, the film drew early attention due to the censor board’s initial recommendations to remove multiple scenes before allowing its release. The first look and promotional materials, including the title track, have already generated buzz among audiences, creating anticipation ahead of its theatrical premiere.

Censor board controversy

According to Deshabhimani.com, the Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC) initially recommended removing 16 scenes from ‘Haal’, including one showing the consumption of beef biryani. The filmmakers approached the High Court to challenge the decision, arguing that the cuts were unnecessary and affected the narrative. The CBFC maintained that the film could only be released if all 16 scenes were cut. However, a single bench struck down four of these cuts, a verdict later upheld by a division bench despite challenges from both the CBFC and the Catholic Congress. During the hearing, the judges reportedly watched the film in full and commented that they enjoyed it, noting that it maintained a coherent storyline. The controversy added to the film’s visibility, keeping it in media discussions ahead of its release.
