Federal Reserve Chairman Jerome Powell says he is under investigation and the threat of criminal indictment by the Justice Department amid a yearlong pressure campaign by President Donald Trump to force the Central Bank to lower interest rates. In a phone interview with NBC News, the president denied having any knowledge of an investigation or that he would use one to pressure Powell. NBC’s Garrett Haake reports for TODAY.
