Regulatory Update Regarding Privacy-Focused Tokens in India
At Unocoin, user security, compliance, and responsible crypto operations remain at the core of everything we do.
As part of our ongoing commitment to regulatory compliance in India, we would like to inform users about an important update regarding privacy-focused crypto assets on the platform.
In accordance with the latest guidance issued by the Financial Intelligence Unit – India (FIU-IND), Reporting Entities (REs) are advised not to permit deposits or withdrawals of Anonymity-Enhancing Crypto Tokens (AECs) designed to conceal or obscure transaction origin, ownership, or transaction value.
Privacy-focused tokens such as ZEC (Zcash) & Dash (DASH) and similar assets have come under increased regulatory scrutiny globally due to Anti-Money Laundering (AML) and Counter Financing (CFT) compliance concerns.
Following this regulatory direction, Unocoin will implement the following changes effective soon.
Services Being Discontinued
- Deposits of ZEC (Zcash) & Dash (DASH) Token currently Disabled.
- Withdrawals of ZEC (Zcash) & Dash (DASH) Token will be disabled on 30 June 2026.
Services That Will Continue
Trading (BUY & SELL) of ZEC (Zcash) & Dash (DASH) Token will remain active on Unocoin
Users will still be able to:
- Buy & Sell ZEC & Dash Tokens
- Convert ZEC & Dash Tokens to INR through trading on the platform
Users currently holding ZEC & Dash Tokens on the platform are advised to take action before the deadline.
You may choose to:
Option 1: Withdraw ZEC & Dash Tokens to an External Wallet
Users can transfer ZEC & Dash Tokens to a supported self-custody wallet or another exchange before withdrawal services are discontinued.
Option 2: Sell ZEC & Dash Tokens on Unocoin
Users who do not wish to transfer their holdings may continue trading ZEC & Dash Tokens and convert their holdings into INR directly on the platform.
Follow these steps to withdraw your ZEC & Dash Tokens holdings before 30 June 2026:
- Login to your Unocoin account
- Navigate to the Wallet section
- Select your coin
- Click on Withdraw
- Enter your external wallet address
- Verify the transaction
- Submit the withdrawal request
Please ensure:
- The wallet address entered supports ZEC or Dash Tokens deposits
- The withdrawal is completed before the effective deadline
- Network fees and confirmation times may vary depending on blockchain conditions
Privacy-focused cryptocurrencies are designed to provide enhanced anonymity and transaction obfuscation features.
Regulators across multiple jurisdictions have raised concerns that these features may create challenges for:
- Transaction monitoring
- AML compliance
- Financial crime investigations
- Counter financing frameworks
According to recent FIU-related compliance discussions, anonymity-enhancing tokens are being categorised as high-risk assets under evolving compliance standards in India.
This update is part of Unocoin’s effort to remain aligned with India’s evolving digital asset compliance framework while continuing to provide a secure and transparent crypto ecosystem.
