US stocks open higher on Fed rate cut expectations


Wall Street‘s main indexes opened higher on Tuesday as investors priced in expected interest rate cuts from the Federal Reserve on Wednesday, while digesting stronger-than-expected August retail sales data.

The Dow Jones Industrial Average rose 36.1 points, or 0.08%, at the open to 45,919.54. The S&P 500 rose 8.9 points, or 0.13%, to 6,624.13, while the Nasdaq Composite rose 48.7 points, or 0.22%, to 22,397.498.
