Wall Street’s main indexes opened lower on Monday, retreating from the previous session’s gains when Fed Chair Jerome Powell hinted that an interest-rate cut could be on the table at the central bank’s meeting next month.
The Dow Jones Industrial Average fell 26.5 points, or 0.06%, at the open to 45,605.25. The S&P 500 fell 9.2 points, or 0.14%, at the open to 6,457.67, while the Nasdaq Composite dropped 30.1 points, or 0.14%, to 21,466.466 at the opening bell.
