vivo continues to tease the X Fold6 ahead of its expected launch later this month. Following the confirmation of OriginOS 6 Fold and its productivity-focused features, the company has now disclosed the chipset that will power the foldable.
In a post on Weibo, a vivo executive revealed that the X Fold6 will be the world’s first foldable phone powered by a new MediaTek Dimensity 9500 Super Edition chipset.
According to vivo, this customized version of the processor has been under development for over 2 years and was specifically designed for foldable devices. It is said to deliver smoother multitasking, faster multi-window rendering, and enhanced AI performance, all while improving power efficiency.
The company claims that peak AI computing performance has increased by 111% compared to the previous-generation NPU, while power consumption has been reduced by 56%. The chipset is also said to enable 7% faster offline voice transcription and speech recognition, along with a 57% improvement in text generation speeds.

Additionally, vivo says the Dimensity 9500 Super Edition brings up to a 20% boost in AI reasoning capabilities. It looks like the brand is heavily focusing on AI performance with the vivo X Fold6. The foldable is rumored to come with a 6,900mAh battery and an 8-inch inner display.
