The Volkswagen Tayron, the new three-row SUV from the German automaker, is set to go on sale in India on 28th January, 2026. Since it will be brought to the country via the CKD (completely knocked down) route, the SUV is expected to carry a premium price tag of around Rs 49 lakh – Rs 50 lakh (ex-showroom).

Once launched, the Tayron will face challenge from the SUVs like Toyota Fortuner, Jeep Meridian and MG Gloster.

The official engine specifications will be revealed in the coming days. However, the Volkswagen Tayron is expected to come with a 2.0L TSI petrol engine, borrowed from the Tiguan R-Line. This engine, paired with a 7-speed DSG (dual-clutch) automatic gearbox, produces a maximum power of 204bhp and 320Nm of torque. The SUV will also feature Volkswagen’s 4MOTION AWD (all-wheel drive) system.
Design Details
The latest teaser reveals that the VW Tayron features a full-width LED strip at the front along with an illuminated Volkswagen logo. This LED bar merges into the headlamp clusters. The rear profile will be adorned by a slim LED strip, connected taillamps and a backlit VW logo. While the globally sold Tayron has been equipped with 17-inch alloy wheels, the India-spec model is likely to come with the larger 19-inch alloys similar to the Tiguan R Line.
Interior & Features
The interior of the new Volkswagen 7-seater SUV is expected to be packed with multiple advanced tech and features. Similar to the globally available model, the India-spec version might offer a 10.15-inch digital instrument cluster, a 12.6-inch touchscreen infotainment system, wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, 700W Harman Kardon system, 10-colour ambient lighting, wireless charging pads, a panoramic sunroof, three-zone automatic climate control, rear view camera, dynamic classic control Pro, 9 airbags and more.
