The Volkswagen Tayron R-Line 7-seater SUV has been unveiled for the Indian market ahead of its expected launch by March 2026. In Volkswagen’s product lineup, this flagship SUV will be positioned above the Tiguan R-Line and will replace the now-discontinued VW Tiguan Allspace.

Price Expectations
The Tayron will be brought to India as a CKD (Completely Knocked Down) unit, and s expected to be priced between Rs 45 lakh – Rs 50 lakh (ex-showroom). Once launched, the VW Tayron 7-seater SUV will go head-to-head against the Jeep Meridian, Skoda Kodiaq and MG Gloster.
Design Highlights
Official images reveal that the Volkswagen Tayron R-Line features LED headlamps with a LED light bar and an illuminated VW logo at the front. The SUV will be assembled with 19-inch alloy wheels along with LED taillamps and sporty bumper at the rear. Similar to the Tiguan R-Line, this new 7-seater will underpin MQB EVO platform, which supports multiple powertrains and advanced technologies.
Premium Features
As a flagship offering, the new VW Tayron comes packed with several advanced features including a 15-inch touchscreen infotainment system, a fully digital driver’s display, 30-colour ambient lighting, a panoramic sunroof, ventilated front seats with massage function, leather upholstery, multi-zone automatic climate control, three-spoke steering wheel, multiple airbags and more.
Turbo Power
Official engine specifications are yet to be revealed. However, the India-bound Volkswagen Tayron R-Line is likely to be offered with a 2.0L turbocharged petrol engine, sourced from the Tiguan R-Line. This motor, paired with a 7-speed DCT automatic gearbox, generates a maximum power of 201bhp and 320Nm of torque. The SUV will get AWD (all-wheel drive) system as standard.
Volkswagen’s Upcoming Models
In 2026, Volkswagen India is set to launch facelifted Taigun midsize SUV and Virtus midsize sedan, featuring subtle design changes and feature upgrades. Both models will retain their existing engine options. Reports suggest that the German automaker is planning to introduce a new subcompact SUV based on the Volkswagen Tera.
