Volkswagen appears to be expanding its premium product range with an all-new 7-seater SUV called the Volkswagen Tayron. The model was recently caught testing without camouflage, wearing a Maharashtra registration plate. While there is no official word on its India launch time, media reports suggest the SUV could arrive in showrooms by 2026.
This upcoming 7-seater SUV severs as the global successor to the Volkswagen Tiguan Allspace, and in India will face challenge from the Skoda Kodiaq, Jeep Meridian, Toyota Fortuner and MG Gloster.

Tiguan-Like Styling
Visually, the new Volkswagen Tayron shares a strong resemblance with the Tiguan, but appears longer. It features differently designed LED headlamps, front and rear bumpers and LED taillight signature. The spotted model carried ‘R’ badging and Tiguan R Line-like alloy wheels, hinting at the possibility of an R Line version for India.

Interior & Features
The VW Tayron will be more spacious than the Tiguan, thanks to its stretched wheelbase. The Tayron offers a boot space of 345-litres, which can be expanded up to 850-litres by folding down the third-row seats. The cabin will be as well-equipped as the Volkswagen Tiguan, offering features such as
- 12.6-inch touchscreen infotainment

- 15-inch head-up display (HUD)
- Wireless smartphone charging pads
- 700W Harman Kardon sound system
- Panoramic sunroof
- Ventilated and massage-enabled powered front seats
- 10-color ambient lighting
- Three-zone automatic climate control

Turbo Power
In India, the Volkswagen Tayron 7-seater SUV is likely to share the 2.0L, 4-cylinder turbo petrol engine with the Skoda Kodiaq. This motor produces a maximum power of 204bhp and 320Nm of torque. Transmission duties will be performed by a 7-speed DCT automatic unit.
Price Prediction
If launched, the Tayron will be imported to India via the CKD (completely knocked down) route and assembled at SAVWIPL’s Aurangabad facility. It’s estimated to be priced around Rs 49 lakh – Rs 50 lakh (ex-showroom).
