Over 1 lakh EVs (electric vehicles) were registered in India in FY2025-26 between April and October, 2025. It’s nearly double the number recorded during the same period in the previous financial year. With the increasing demand of EVs, OEMs are gearing up to launch several new products especially in the SUV segment. If you are planning to buy a new electric SUV, it may be worth waiting a little longer as three new models are set to launch in the coming months.
Maruti Suzuki will enter the EV segment with the e Vitara, which is scheduled to go on sale on 2nd December, 2025. Following the Maruti e Vitara, the Tata Sierra EV and Mahindra XEV 9S and Tata Sierra EV are set to debut on 25th and 27th November, respectively. Both electric SUVs are expected to reach showrooms in early 2026. Let’s take a look at the key details of these upcoming electric SUVs.
Maruti e Vitara

Maruti Suzuki will introduce the e Vitara with two battery pack options – 49kWh and 61kWh – paired with a front axle mounted electric motor. The dual motor setup and AWD (all-wheel drive) system will be exclusively offered with the bigger battery version. The carmaker has confirmed that the Maruti e Vitara will offer a range of over 500km on a full charge.
Tata Sierra EV
Official specifications of the Tata Sierra EV are expected to be revealed during its unveiling on 25th November, 2025. However, the electric SUV is likely to share powertrain from the Harrier EV, which is available with 65kWh and 75kWh battery pack options. The 65kWh battery comes paired with a 238PS rear motor, while the 75kWh battery pack is mated with a 158PS front motor. Tata claims that the Harrier EV delivers a claimed MIDC range of up to 627km per charge. The Sierra EV might offer a range of over 500km.
Mahindra XEV 9S
The Mahindra XEV 9S will be sharing its design elements, features, components, platform and powertrains with the XEV 9e. This means, it will come with the 59kWh and 79kWh battery pack options, and deliver a range of over 600km in its higher spec version. Official teasers confirm that the XEV 9S will come equipped with a triple screen setup along with a Harman Kardon sound system, sliding second row of seats, a panoramic sunroof, power adjustable driver seat with memory function and several other advanced features.
