Waiting for Tata Sierra EV? Launch Timeline & Key Details


The all-new Tata Sierra is now visible running on roads, with deliveries having commenced from mid-January. The company is now gearing up to introduce its electric iteration, which is likely to make its debut in late February 2026. The carmaker shared a teaser of the Tata Sierra EV in November last year, offering an early glimpse of its design and features. Here’re what we can expect from the upcoming Tata Sierra EV.

Design Highlights

The electric Sierra retains the upright and rugged stance of its ICE counterpart. However, it receives a few cosmetic changes have been made to its front end including a closed-off grille, flat bumper with a light bar. The EV also features short overhangs, a raised bonnet, differently designed alloy wheels, wraparound rear glass and a connected LED light bar at the end.

Expected Powertrains

Tata Motors hasn’t yet revealed the powertrain details. However, the Tata Sierra EV is expected to borrow the 55kWh battery from the Curvv EV and the larger 65kWh battery pack from the Harrier EV. The 55kWh lithium-ion battery pack, paired with a single front-mounted motor, delivers a maximum power of 167PS and 215Nm of torque.

In the Curvv EV, this setup offers a claimed MIDC range of 502km on a single charge. Meanwhile, the Harrier EV’s 65kWh battery pack is paired with a rear-wheel drive single motor, pushing power worth 238PS and 315Nm of torque. The EV promises a claimed MIDC range of 538km on a full charge.

Competition & Price Expectations

When launched, the Tata Sierra EV will face challenge from models such as the Hyundai Creta Electric, MG ZS EV, Mahindra BE 6 and the upcoming Maruti Suzuki e Vitara and Toyota Urban Cruiser Ebella. Prices of the electric SUV is expected to start from Rs 20 lakh for the base variant.
