The United States has released video footage showing its strikes on Iran. Shared by US Central Command on X, the footage shows missiles fired from warships in the region, fighter jets roaring off aircraft carrier decks and precision strikes on Iranian targets. Among the assets hit were what CENTCOM described as Iranian drones on the ground and facilities linked to the country’s military infrastructure, including satellite-related installations.In a statement accompanying the video, CENTCOM said: “As the President stated, our objective is to defend the American people by eliminating imminent threats from the Iranian regime. The President ordered bold action. CENTCOM forces are delivering an overwhelming and unrelenting blow.”The images were released as the United States and Israel confirmed a large-scale operation against Iran. Trump, in a video posted on Truth Social, said the campaign would “destroy” Iran’s military capabilities and prevent it from obtaining a nuclear weapon. He accused Tehran of rejecting “every opportunity to renounce their nuclear ambitions” and added: “We can’t take it anymore.”Unlike previous strikes earlier in the year, this operation began in daylight on Saturday, with explosions reported in Tehran and other cities including Isfahan, Qom and Kermanshah. Iranian media showed smoke rising near key government sites in the capital, including areas close to the compound of Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei. Iran’s foreign minister later said the country’s top leadership was alive.Iran responded with missile and drone attacks across the region. Explosions were reported in Israel, while Bahrain said the headquarters of the US Navy’s Fifth Fleet was targeted. Air defence systems were activated in Qatar, Kuwait and the United Arab Emirates, all of which host US military facilities. Several countries temporarily closed their airspace as commercial flights were rerouted.
