Samsung believes that foldables are the future – and, perhaps, that wide models like the new Galaxy Z Fold8 are the future of foldables. What do you think?
Starting with the Samsung Galaxy Z Fold8, despite its plain name, this is a brand new category for the Galaxy foldable family. And while this isn’t the first wide foldable to hit the market, it’s the one that will have the widest reach on the global market. At least until Apple releases its first foldable, which is rumored to be a wide one.

Speaking of, the Samsung Galaxy Z Fold8 Ultra is the new name of the big book-style foldable – in other words, this is the successor to the Z Fold7, not the Z Fold8. What did this phone bring to deserve the “Ultra” name? Using Silicon-Carbon, Samsung bumped up the battery capacity to 5,000mAh, 600mAh more than the 2025 Fold. And wired charging is now up to 45W.

However, the only camera upgrade on this Ultra phone is a 50MP ultra-wide (up from 12MP). The outdated 3x 10MP telephoto module remains. The 200MP camera does add “Ultra” flair to this phone, though the Z Fold7 had it too. Anyway, it’s more than the new Z Fold8 has – that one only has a 50MP main, a 50MP ultra-wide and no telephoto camera.
The Samsung Galaxy Z Flip8 got slimmer (13.1mm folded, 6.1mm unfolded vs. 13.7mm folded, 6.5mm unfolded) and a touch lighter (180g vs. 188g). And it got a new chipset, the Exynos 2600, with the exception of the US, Canada and China where it gets the Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 for Galaxy (its siblings only use the Snapdragon). The Flip missed out on a battery upgrade, leaving it as the only premium Galaxy phone to feature slow 25W charging other than the vanilla Galaxy S26.

Let’s start with the new model, the Galaxy Z Fold8. According to rumors, Samsung expects this to be the best-selling Z phone of the three. What do you think?
Perhaps you will stick with the classics, i.e. the Galaxy Z Fold8 Ultra. Last year, the big book-style foldable outsold the Flip, we’ll see how it fares against the newcomer.
