Xiaomi 18 Fold is here with the Xring O3 SoC, a wide format, and a cherry red colorway

Xiaomi today announced its own very first wide-style foldable smartphone, one-upping Apple by exactly two days. Not only does the Xiaomi 18 Fold have the same form factor as the much-anticipated iPhone Ultra, but it’s also available in a cherry red colorway, similar to what was rumored for Apple’s device.

That’s where the similarities end, though. The Xiaomi 18 Fold is powered by Xiaomi’s impressive self-developed Xring O3 SoC, paired with 12/16GB of RAM and 256GB/512GB/1TB of storage. RAM is LPDDR6 if you get 16GB, otherwise it’s LPDDR5X.

The folding screen is 7.58″ diagonally with 2364×1672 resolution while the cover screen is 5.38″ with 1168×1712 resolution. Both have 120Hz refresh rates, a 2:1 aspect ratio, and up to 4,000-nit peak brightness. The cover display is protected by Xiaomi’s Shield Glass 3.0.

The main camera is 200MP using Samsung’s ISOCELL HP5 1/1.56″ type sensor, there’s also a 50MP periscope telephoto camera with 80mm focal length for 3.5x optical zoom and 160mm 7x in-sensor “lossless” zoom, and a 50MP ultrawide on the rear, as well as a 16MP selfie snapper on each screen.

Keeping the lights on is a 6,000 mAh battery with 20% silicon content, which charges at up to 67W wired and 50W wireless. The Xiaomi 18 Fold runs HyperOS 4 based on Android 17. It has a side-mounted fingerprint scanner embedded in the power button, as well as stereo speakers with Dolby Atmos support.

The Xiaomi 18 Fold is available in black, red, “Warm Gold”, and a ceramic special edition. Folded, it measures 117.8 x 83.6 x 10.68 mm. Unfolded, it’s 117.8 x 163.8 x 5.02 mm. It weighs 219g.

The 12/256GB version is priced at CNY 10,999 ($1,638), the 12/512GB version at CNY 11,999 ($1,787), the 16/512GB variant at CNY 12,999 ($1,936), the 16GB/1TB iteration at CNY 14,999 ($2,234), and the ceramic special edition (only available with 16GB of RAM and 1TB of storage) at CNY 15,999 ($2,383). Unfortunately, Xiaomi has no plans to sell the 18 Fold outside of China.
