So, that’s what the “hero” teaser was about – Xiaomi is bringing back its affordable Redmi A-series next week. The last one was the Redmi 10A from early 2022. Note that this is different from the likes of the Redmi A5, which is an Android Go Edition phone. The Redmi 10A ran full-fat Android.
Xiaomi Redmi 15A: 5G chipset with an octa-core CPU • dual-camera
The Redmi 15A will become the first 5G-capable phone in its family. Details are a bit scarce, but here are a few other specs to look forward to. For reference, the 10A launched at ₹8,500 four years ago.
The 15A will have the “largest and smoothest” display in its segment (which segment is that, though?). The 120Hz refresh rate is notable as the 10A had a 60Hz IPS LCD.

Also, the phone will be equipped with a 6,300mAh battery. This again is a solid jump over the previous model, which had a 5,000mAh battery (to be fair, that was four years ago).
The upgrade to a dual-camera is also significant in the context of previous A-series phones, but we’ll have to wait for more teasers to find out anything about the sensors. Similarly, the phone will have an IP rating, but the exact spec is TBA.
Xiaomi India will introduce the Redmi 15A next week on March 27. You can keep an eye on the landing page for new details.
