Xiaomi held a few announcements today, namely the new 17T series, and now we can add a few smart wearables to the mix. Meet the Xiaomi Smart Band 10 Pro, Watch S5, the Xiaomi Buds 6, and the Xiaomi Sound Play.
The Smart Band 10 Pro has been kicking it over in China under the Mi Band 10 Pro moniker for a little over a week now. Global wearers get the Smart Band, Chinese buyers get the Mi Band.
Name aside, the new wearable is very similar to its predecessor – it has the same size, 1.74-inch display. It’s 60Hz and 16.8 million colors, but it’s a bit brighter at a peak of 2,000 nits (vs 1,200 on the old one).
The battery is the same 350mAh and promises the same runtimes – up to 21 days of light use, 15 days of normal use, and 8 days of always-on use.
The new band is slightly lighter at 21.6 grams (the ceramic model is heavier at 28.7g), and it’s also thinner, while retaining its durability.
Xiaomi says the health sensors are all-new and have a dual-light PD sensor. The band has upgraded sleep detection algorithms, something Xiaomi said when it launched its predecessor – innovation every year!
Xiaomi also launched the Watch S5, which comes as the successor to 2024’s Watch S4. It brings a marginally larger 1.48″ AMOLED touchscreen (56mm case) with a stainless steel frame and a big leap in battery endurance. Armed with an 815mAh battery, Xiaomi claims the S5 can last up to 21 days on a single charge compared to 15 on its predecessor.
And despite the battery upgrade, Xiaomi managed to shave off 1mm from the Watch S4’s thickness. The rest of the specs are your standard health and activity tracking, including a dual-band GPS and 5ATM water resistance. Watch S5 comes in Black, Silver, Ceramic Blue, and Jungle Green colors.
The Xiaomi Buds 6 improve on several key areas over their predecessor. For starters, the buds have a new 11mm triple-magnet driver that would output superior sound. There’s also Qualcomm aptX lossless audio driver support with a bitrate of up to 2.1 Mbps (up from 1.2 Mbps on the Buds 5).
Noise cancellation should also be better.
The Buds 6 have a new “biomimetic curved design”, making them thinner and lighter than the previous model, while still delivering a better fit with an increased contact area, and a better airflow design.
Xiaomi also unveiled something new – the Sound Play, which admittedly is the way a neanderthal might ask his Gemini or Alexa to play some music.
The Sound Play has 18W of output, weighs 415 grams, is IP68 rated, so you can take it to the beach, and can last up to 14 hours.
The Xiaomi Sound Play supports TWS pairing, meaning you can set up two speakers to play simultaneously. Xiaomi says you can connect up to 100 devices with Auracast.
Design-wise, the Sound Play is a pretty speaker with a bottom ambient light ring, matching the speaker’s color (either orange, blue, green, or purple), and an infinity mirror light filling what appears to be the bass reflect chamber of the speaker.
The Xiaomi Smart Band 10 Pro starts from €80 and goes up to €100 for the NFC and Ceramic Edition. Xiaomi Watch S5 starts €179. The Xiaomi Buds 6 are €120. The Xiaomi Sound Play speaker is only €50.
