As promised, Xiaomi has shared more details about the “versatile rear display” coming to the upcoming Xiaomi 18 Pro series. The company offered a first look at the upgraded rear display yesterday.
In a short teaser video shared on Weibo, Xiaomi revealed that users will be able to create AI-powered apps for specific tasks that will appear on the rear display.
The video showcases several examples, including apps for drinking water reminders, egg cooking timers, recipe recommendations, and learning new English words. Previously, the rear display on the Xiaomi 17 Pro series was limited to showing select widgets and a set of pre-installed app cards.
Xiaomi also shared that it has partnered with several brands in China to offer custom app cards for the rear display on the Xiaomi 18 Pro series.
The Xiaomi 18 Pro and 18 Pro Max are set to debut in China later this month and are rumored to be powered by Qualcomm’s yet to be announced Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 6 Pro chipset.
