Fans of Kannada superstar Yash got a first look at his upcoming film ‘Toxic: A Fairytale for Grown-Ups’. The jaw-dropping R-rated trailer made waves online for its bold, bloody and explosive visuals.
Yash introduced as Raya in ‘Toxic’
The Geetu Mohandas-directed film marks Yash’s first project since the blockbuster success of ‘KGF: Chapter 2’ in 2022, hence it’s no wonder that expectations are running high on this flick. The poster drops that came out last week also piqued the interest of fans. However, it was the teaser, introducing Yash as Raya that really set social media abuzz. “Get a good look at your danger – Introducing RAYA,” the studio captioned the clip.
Netizens compare ‘Toxic’ to ‘Bombay Velvet‘
Soon after the reveal, social media platforms were flooded with fan reactions, with several fans drawing parallels to ‘Bombay Velvet’, starring Ranbir Kapoor in the lead. Besides featuring the two stars in suits, rocking their gangster avatars and holding up submachine guns, comments comparing the tone and aesthetic of ‘Toxic’ to the Anurag Kashyap film began appearing across platforms.“Ladies and gentlemen, Bombay Velvet of Kannada cinema!” one user wrote.Another commented, “Bombay velvet vibe aa raha hai.” While still another added, “After watching the Poster the Teaser of Toxic i can for sure say that this is Bombay Velvet 2.0…”Netizens have also been comparing the film with the hit series ‘Peaky Blinders’.
