In the coming days, we will witness the launches of two all-new 7-seater SUVs – the MG Hector Tomahawk and the Kia Sorento. Official bookings for both models are already underway across India. JSW MG Motor India will unveil the Hector Tomahawk SUV, based on the China-spec Wuling Starlight 560, with an electric powertrain on August 26. While its official market launch is expected to take place by October, the SUV is estimated to be priced at Rs 22 lakh onwards (ex-showroom). Once launched, the Hector Hawk will rival the Mahindra XEV 9S.
Meanwhile, the Kia Sorento will be the brand’s first strong hybrid offering in India and is set to launch on September 4, 2026. With an estimated price of around Rs 30 lakh (ex-showroom), the new Kia 7-seater SUV will be positioned against the Skoda Kodiaq, Volkswagen Tayron and Jeep Merdian.
Here’re the engine specifications and key details of these upcoming 7-seater SUVs.

MG Hector Hawk
Since the MG Hector Tomahawk EV will be based on the Wuling Starlight 560, it’s likely to share its powertrain with its Chinese donor model. In China, the Starlight 560 is available with a 69.2kWh LFP (lithium iron phosphate) battery pack paired with a front-mounted electric motor. This setup delivers a maximum power of 204PS and 310Nm of torque. The EV offers a claimed range of 530km (CLTC) on a full charge.
Kia Sorento
The Kia Sorento will be offered with both strong hybrid and diesel powertrain options. The strong hybrid version will be powered by a 1.6L turbocharged petrol engine paired with an electric motor and a battery pack. This powertrain produces a peak power of 238bhp and 380Nm of torque. Transmission on offer will be a 6-speed torque convertor automatic gearbox. Kia will also offer the Sorento with a 2.2L turbo diesel engine borrowed from the Kia Carnival. It generates a maximum power of 202bhp and 440Nm of torque.
