The ninth-generation Toyota Hilux has finally been launched in India at Rs 32 lakh (ex-showroom). At this price point, it directly takes on the Isuzu V-Cross which is currently priced between Rs 25.50 lakh – Rs 30.28 lakh (ex-showroom). It’s nearly Rs 3.48 lakh more expensive than its predecessor, which was available within the price range of Rs 28.52 lakh – Rs 36 lakh (ex-showroom). Built on the IMV platform, the 2026 Toyota Hilux receives significant design updates and feature enhancements while retaining the same 2.8-litre diesel engine.
Improved Styling
Visually, the 2026 Toyota Hilux appears more rugged and muscular than its predecessor. Upfront, the pickup truck features a squarer grille with pronounced angular honeycomb-mesh design elements and slimmer LED headlamps with LED DRLs connected by a gloss-black strip with ‘Toyota’ lettering. Styling elements such as a revised bumper with two black air intakes on either side, LED fog lamp assembly and a sliver skid plate further enhance its aggressive appearance.
Other design highlights include black ORVMs and door handles, squared-off black cladding on wheel arches and footboard, 17-ich black alloy wheels, a roll cage in truck bed in black finish, C-shaped wraparound LED taillamps, black-finished tailgate with ‘Toyota’ lettering and a sporty rear bumper.

Inside the cabin, the new Toyota Hilux 2026 lifestyle pickup truck offers a sporty all-black theme along with a large 12.3-inch touchscreen infotainment system, a 12.3-inch digital driver’s display and a new three-spoke steering wheel with mounted controls. The combination of soft-touch leatherette upholstery and hard plastics add more to its premium yet rugged appeal.
In terms of features, the all-new Hilux offers a 9-speaker JBL audio system, dual-zone automatic climate control, heated ORVMs, a 220V power outlet for front passengers, powered and ventilated front seats, a 360-degree camera system with a blind-spot monitor, an ADAS (advanced driver assistance system) suite, front and rear parking sensors, TPMS, 7 airbags, ABS with EBD and brake assist and more.
Same Diesel Engine
Under the hood, the new Hilux features the same 2.8L diesel engine, delivering a claimed power of 204bhp and 420Nm (MT)/ 500Nm (AT) of torque. It can be had with either a 6-speed manual transmission or a 6-speed torque-converter automatic gearbox. While a 4×4 AWD system with a low-range transfer case remains standard, the biggest highlight is the introduction of the 4X2 drivetrain system for the first time in India.
Globally, the new-generation Hilux is also available with an electric powertrain, featuring a 59.2kWh battery pack and front and rear-axle mounted electric motors. It delivers a combined output of 196bhp and a WLTP-claimed range of 240km.
