Considering the growing demand for family SUVs, carmakers such as Tata, Mahindra, Kia and JSW MG Motor India are planning to launch new 7-seater models by the 2026 Diwali season. Here’s a quick look at these upcoming 7-seater SUVs.
Upcoming 7-Seater SUVs in India By Diwali 2026
MG Hector Hawk
JSW MG Motor India is set to unveil an all-new electric SUV in August, 2026. The upcoming model will debut the brand’s new ADAPT (advanced drive architecture platform technology) platform, which is compatible with multiple powertrains. The new MG electric SUV, which could be called MG Hector Hawk, is expected to be based on the Wuling Eksion sold in Indonesia.
Similar to the Eksion, the new MG Hector Hawk might feature a 69kWh battery pack paired with a 210bhp electric motor. A plug-in hybrid powertrain version could also be introduced at a later stage. Both models are expected to hit showrooms close to the Diwali season.
Mahindra Scorpio N Facelift
The new 2026 Mahindra Scorpio N facelift is likely to make its debut on August 15 at an official event in Mumbai. While official details are still under wraps, the SUV is expected to receive minimal changs inside and out. Expected highlights include a revised front grille, tweaked bumpers, redesigned headlamps and fog lamps and new alloy wheels.
Under the hood, the new Scorpio N facelift is expected to retain the existing 2.0L turbo petrol and 2.2L diesel engine options.
Tata Safari EV
The upcoming Tata Safari EV will be the brand’s answer to the Mahindra XEV 9S. According to reports, the 7-seater electric SUV might share its powertrain with the Harrier EV, which is currently available with 65kWh (RWD) single motor, 75kWh (RWD) single motor and 75kWh (AWD) dual motor options. It’s expected to offer a claimed range of over 500km per charge.
On the exterior, the EV is likely to feature a sealed-off grille, revised bumpers, new alloy wheels and EV badging. It could also share the TiDAL (Tata Intelligent Digital Architecture Layer) software suite with the Harrier EV, offering features such as OTA updates, a 540 degree surround view camera, updated Level 2 ADAS, DrivePay and auto park assist.
Kia Sorento
The Kia Sorento will be the brand’s first hybrid model in India, scheduled to launch by October 2026. According to leaked information, the SUV lineup will be offered with two engine options – a diesel and a strong hybrid. Similar to the global-spec version, the India-bound model could be offered with a 1.6L turbo GDI petrol hybrid powertrain. The diesel model might feature Kia’s proven 2.2L CRDi turbo engine.
